By downloading or using StepGate, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.
1. The Service
StepGate is a health and productivity app that helps users manage their screen time by requiring physical activity (walking) to earn access to selected apps on their iPhone. The app reads step data from Apple HealthKit and uses Apple's Screen Time API to manage app restrictions.
StepGate is designed for adult self-regulation. Users voluntarily choose to restrict their own app usage as motivation to walk more. It is not a parental control tool.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use StepGate. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you should review these terms with a parent or guardian.
3. Free Access & Subscriptions
StepGate is free to download and use. Core functionality is accessible without a subscription. After you complete your daily step goal 3 times, you will be invited to start a free trial of StepGate Pro — the engagement-based paywall. You have full access to onboarding and core app features before any purchase prompt is shown.
StepGate Pro is available via the following auto-renewable subscriptions:
- Weekly: 19,99 kr/week — no free trial
- Yearly: 149,00 kr/year — includes a 14-day free trial (no payment is taken until day 14)
Prices are displayed in the app and may vary by region. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time via Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
The 14-day free trial is available on the yearly plan for new subscribers only. After the trial period ends, the subscription will automatically convert to a paid yearly subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends.
For refund requests, please visit reportaproblem.apple.com. Brask Digital does not process refunds directly — all transactions are handled by Apple.
4. Live Activity & Push Notifications
StepGate may display real-time step progress on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island via Apple's Live Activity feature. You can enable or disable this at any time in iPhone Settings.
If you grant permission, StepGate may send local push notifications to encourage you to reach your daily step goal. All notifications are scheduled locally on your device. You can manage notification preferences at any time via iPhone Settings → Notifications → StepGate.
5. Weekly Report Card
StepGate generates a weekly summary of your step activity on-device. You may optionally share this report as an image using iOS's standard share sheet. Brask Digital has no access to where or with whom you share this content.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use StepGate only for its intended purpose: personal, voluntary self-regulation of screen time through physical activity. You may not:
- Attempt to reverse engineer, modify, or tamper with the app
- Use the app in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Attempt to circumvent the app's functionality or restrictions
7. Health Disclaimer
StepGate is not a medical device. Step counts and health statistics are estimates provided by Apple HealthKit and may not be fully accurate. Do not rely on StepGate for medical decisions. Consult a healthcare professional before starting any new exercise program, particularly if you have existing health conditions.
8. Limitation of Liability
StepGate is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Brask Digital is not responsible for:
- Missed deadlines, lost productivity, or any consequences of apps being locked or unlocked
- Inaccuracies in step counts or health data provided by Apple HealthKit
- Any damages arising from your use of or inability to use the app
- Interruptions to the service due to updates, maintenance, or technical issues
9. Intellectual Property
StepGate and all its content, features, and functionality are owned by Brask Digital and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our explicit written permission.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to StepGate at our discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms of Service or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.
11. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of Denmark. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Danish courts.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
